Welcome
A little about me
Hi, my name is Elissa Cooper and I am proud to be the K-3 Special Education teacher and case manager at ASU Prep! As you will see in my photos, I am a Sun Devil through and through. I received both my B.A. and M.Ed. from ASU. My mom worked at ASU when I was growing up, and now my sons are Sun Devils as well. The only exception in my family is my daughter, who graduated from U of A and Washington State to become a veterinarian.
When I'm not at school, I enjoy yoga, hiking, mountain biking, and going to the theater.
I have teaching experience in general education in preschool and all the primary grades. I taught special education in Chandler for nine years. Most recently, I worked as an Inclusion Coach, helping other teachers include children with special needs in their classrooms. ASU Prep's full inclusion model fits perfectly with my own philosophy of education, since I believe that children learn best when they are a member of a classroom community.
I am looking forward to getting to know the ASU Prep kids and their families. We are going to have a great year!
